6ᵗʰ Congress of Geographical Information Systems and Spatial Analysis in Agriculture and Environment

19 - 21 May, 2026
Conference Center of
Agricultural University of Athens

A Few Words

About The Event

Geographical Information Systems (GIS) play a crucial role in modern agriculture and environmental sustainability in Greece. With advancements in data collection technologies like UAV drones, digital cameras, and IoT-based transmission, GIS enables more efficient decision-making and problem-solving in these fields. The GIS Research Unit at the Agricultural University of Athens actively contributes to this progress through research projects, specialized workshops, and its MSc program in Geoinformatics and Spatial Analysis. Collaborating with Hellas GIs, the unit addresses the challenges of modern agriculture, fisheries, and environmental management by applying GIS solutions.

Where

Conference Center of Agricultural University of Athens

When

19-21 May, 2026 Tuesday to Thursday

The Congress will showcase the integration of digital and spatial technologies in Agriculture 4.0 through scientific presentations, publications, workshops, and real-world case studies. A key highlight will be the Sponsors’ Exhibition, where leading businesses in the sector will present their latest products and services, fostering valuable industry connections. The event aims to bridge the gap between research and practical applications, reinforcing GIS’s role in advancing sustainable agricultural practices.

A Few Words

About The Event Organizer

Geographic Information Systems Research Unit of AUA

Since 1989, the Geographic Information Systems Research Unit of Agricultural University of Athens records plethora educational and research activities in theory and practice, such as:
• Spatiotemporal Digital Agriculture Management
• Natural Resources management and evaluation
• Environmental Studies regarding urban areas
• Subjects of rural development and spatial consistency
Three undergraduate and six postgraduate modules are offered in Agricultural University by Professors and Faculty Members who attain the GIS Research Unit.
During the recent years GIS Research Unit launches a strong presence in Scientific Events’ Organizing domain, such as Congresses, Seminars, Workshops etc.

Hellas GIS

Hellas GIS is a non-profit organization. Its members are scientists and institutions that use the technology of Geographic Information Systems to analyze issues related to geographical characteristics. The GIS applications are many and include subjects related to designing – environmental, urban, rural, developmental, transportation, etc –, the spatial analysis (for natural and socioeconomic phenomena), the decision – making (either individually or in teams), the rendering of services towards citizens, and more.
Hellas GIS is the one and only organization in Greece which deals with every aspect of GIS application, and therefore addresses to a vast spectrum of Institutions and individuals.

3rd GIS EXPO

The Digital Agriculture Exhibition

GIS CONGRESS EXPO is the exhibition that bridges science with entrepreneurship in the digital primary sector, empowered by geospatial technologies. It serves as a vibrant meeting point between innovation, market dynamics, and academic research, where companies, researchers, and organizations showcase solutions shaping the future of agriculture, fisheries, environmental management, and the broader agri-food chain.

The exhibition takes place at the first floor of the Agricultural Museum of the  at the Agricultural University of Athens during the days of the Congress. The 3rd GIS CONGRESS EXPO hosts the Congress’s  Sponsors, who will present cutting-edge technologies, tools, and services in the field of geoinformatics. Its proximity to the main scientific program fosters interaction, knowledge exchange, and the creation of vital links between the research community and the business sector.

These Are The

Workshops

The training workshops provide a short introduction to the basic stages of using GIS and modern digital technologies.

Participants will receive certificates of attendance.

The training workshops will be conducted in Greek.
